What benefits can you expect from drinking good quality tea?

Health Benefits from drinking Pure Fresh Tea

These days we are increasingly taking responsibility for our own health. Proper diet and exercise play vital roles in maintaining our health and well being, and the evidence is all around as to the effects of eating a high fat, over-processed diet. Most people have a general feeling of wanting to be in control of their health, even if they don't know how, and our teas can help you in this process.

We have been able to see for ourselves the benefits of drinking our teas every day. We no longer suffer from the caffeine highs we got with coffee, we can easily digest a large meal (if we follow it with some tea) and, even better, we've got more energy and have been able to lose a few pounds! Sound good?

So how does it work?

Green tea has been used as a medicine in China for at least 4,000 years because of the reputed benefits. A large number of scientific studies and clinical trials have been held, showing how green tea can lower cholesterol, help to fight cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular disease, impaired immune function and diabetes, as well as promoting weight loss and anti-aging!

In green tea, caffeine, tannin, essential oils and vitamins work together in a very beneficial way. The caffeine in tea boosts your circulation and metabolism via the central nervous system, yet the tannin helps the caffeine be absorbed more slowly, preventing the caffeine rush that you get from coffee. However, the key compounds of green tea are catechin polyphenols, particularly Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful antioxidant and green tea is full of it.

There has long been the "French Paradox" where the French, despite having a diet rich in fat, had far less heart disease than Americans. This was shown to be the result of resveratrol, a polyphenol found in red wine, that helps to combat the effects of a rich food and smoking. Interestingly, a study has shown that EGCG is twice as powerful as resveratrol.
